We Racked Up A Doozie, Lemmitellya!

Hi! FFJ Claudia here, reporting on this year’s 50 hits to the dome. (That’s an LL Cool J reference I’m old enough to make/understand.)
Last Tuesday at The Studio was the fourth ever 50FJ. Sex machine Seth Herzog got the comedy Katamari ball rolling with a bit about a carpet sample his family asked him to get cast in a sketch on the Fallon show, where he does warm up. And the show rocketed from there. JFOD, Jiwon and I sat stage left and watched in awe. We barely had time to check our lineups before the next comic was ready to be announced. The talent kept it so tight and fun.
In the audience, we had Sean Murphy, the very Murph behind Murph Guide. There’s a lot to do in this town and we were honored to have him. Check his recap here.

FIFTY FIRST JOKES is the sublime creation of bad-ass comedians Claudia Cogan, Jiwon Lee and John F. O’Donnell.
What exactly is FIFTY FIRST JOKES? It’s all in the name, child. We have 50 of the most magical comedians in New York City all booked together on one mega-show. They each get to tell the very first joke that they have written for the new year. It’s the first big time comedy event of the season. And it’s more fun than deep fried chocolate covered thumb wrestling. Some of the new jokes hit like a punch to the solar plexus while others flounder like elderly genitals. But, regardless, the show is a priceless insight into the mysterious subculture of live stand up comedy.
FIFTY FIRST JOKES 2010 will be the fourth anniversary of the show. Each year it keeps getting bigger and bigger. In 2009 the show took place at the legendary Webster Hall. We were in the intimate downstairs room known as the Studio. It fits 300 plus people and it’s perfect for eyeball melting live comedy. The show was sold out and over 100 people were turned away at the door. Yikes. You gotta reserve tix.
Because last year was undeniably stellar and intergalactic, we have decided to return to the Studio @ Webster Hall yet again. We’re so excited. We pour all of our love into 50 FIRST JOKES. Won’t you please join us?
